A. High Court of Delta State has granted the reliefs sought by Hon. Chukwuemeke Victor, following an order of mandamus against the Chairman and Treasurer of the Council over alleged failure to disclose the council’s financial records, as required by law.
Recall that on January 19, 2026, Justice S. L. Okeleke, of High Court of Delta State, Holden at Obiaruku granted an order of mandamus following an ex parte application filed by Evans Ufeli, the lead counsel at The Chambers of Evans Ufeli on behalf of Hon. Chukwuemeke Victor, Councillor representing Ward 7, Ezhionum clan, Ukwuani LGA.
The applicant also filed a Motion on Notice, seeking reliefs which includes publishing the council’s account details amongst others.
The recent order directs the Council Chairman to fully comply with the provisions of the law and publish the council’s account details including expenditures and financial records for public scrutiny.
The latest ruling reinforces the principle of accountability and transparency in management of public funds at local government level.
