The Member representing Warri South Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Benson Obire, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election for a second term, pledging to consolidate on his achievements and surpass his current performance if given another mandate.
Hon. Obire made the declaration on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the residence of the Chairman of the Warri Urhobo APC Leadership Council, Olorogun Bernard Okumagba. The gathering was attended by prominent party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the constituency.
The event witnessed a large turnout of party faithful, loyalists, family members, and well-wishers from all political wards in the constituency, including solidarity delegations from Ogunu/Okurode Ward and Bowen Ward.
Addressing the audience, Hon. Obire highlighted key milestones of his first tenure, presenting a summary of his scorecard and outlining various people-oriented projects and initiatives that have positively impacted constituents.
He noted that his representation has focused on grassroots development, particularly in the education sector. According to him, his interventions include the distribution of free books and school bags to pupils in public primary schools such as Agbassa, Caveginia, Olodi, Ighogbadu, Edjeba, and Ikengbuwa Primary Schools, among others.
The lawmaker also disclosed that additional projects are underway, including the provision of desks and benches for schools, as well as the renovation of public primary and secondary schools under his recently approved constituency projects.
“I promise to significantly surpass my current achievements. A second term will usher in unprecedented dividends of democracy for my constituents,” he assured.
Hon. Obire commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as outstanding performance and impactful governance across the 25 local government areas of the state. He noted that Warri South Constituency II has benefited from several visible and verifiable projects, including major infrastructure developments executed by Julius Berger in Warri and Effurun.
He called on constituents and party faithful to mobilize support for Governor Oborevwori, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that Nigerians, particularly Deltans, will continue to benefit from the socio-economic reforms of the Tinubu administration and the development-driven agenda of the state government. He emphasized the need for unity and collective effort among party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Obire also appreciated Olorogun Bernard Okumagba for his inclusive and visionary leadership, which he said has united stakeholders and strengthened the political structure within the constituency. He further thanked party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for their overwhelming turnout.
In his remarks, Olorogun Bernard Okumagba commended the unity displayed at the gathering and described Hon. Obire as a committed representative who is passionate about the welfare of his people. He expressed confidence that the lawmaker would deliver even more in a second term.
Okumagba urged party members to intensify voter sensitization and mobilization efforts, stressing the importance of delivering victory for all APC candidates in the next elections as a mark of appreciation for the developmental strides of Governor Oborevwori.
Other leaders and stakeholders who spoke at the event unanimously endorsed Hon. Obire’s second-term bid, assuring him of their support, whether through consensus or party primaries.

Also in attendance were traditional leaders, ward chairmen, and political stakeholders from across the constituency, as well as representatives from Constituency I, including Ogunu/Okurode Ward 3 and Bowen Ward 6.
The event was peaceful, well-coordinated, and widely regarded as a successful political gathering.
