The forthcoming Delta State Economic Summit will provide a major platform for attracting fresh investments, creating jobs and accelerating economic diversification in the state, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifechukwukwu Bridget Anyafulu, has said.
Anyafulu, who represents Oshimili South State Constituency, described the summit as a bold and timely initiative by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to reposition Delta State for sustainable economic growth and inclusive development.
In a statement, the lawmaker commended Governor Oborevwori for convening the summit, saying it reflected his administration’s commitment to strategic planning, responsible governance and the pursuit of practical solutions to the state’s economic challenges.
She said the summit would bring together government officials, private-sector players, development partners, investors, academics and other stakeholders to collectively chart a sustainable economic pathway for Delta.
According to her, the gathering presents an opportunity to “bring the world to Delta and, in turn, take Delta State to the world” by showcasing the state’s investment opportunities, enterprise, innovation and economic potential.
Anyafulu said the Oborevwori administration had demonstrated commitment to transparency, accountability and implementation, stressing that effective governance must go beyond policy pronouncements to delivering tangible results to the people.
She noted that the economic summit was consistent with the Governor’s vision of building a resilient and diversified economy capable of attracting investments, creating employment, promoting industrialisation, strengthening agriculture and empowering small and medium-scale enterprises.
The lawmaker particularly praised the Governor for aligning his administration’s MORE Agenda with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda, describing the strategy as evidence of a forward-looking administration committed to measurable and sustainable development.
She said sustainable development required collaboration among government and stakeholders, innovation, sound policies, measurable outcomes and a shared commitment to excellence.
Anyafulu expressed confidence that the resolutions reached at the summit would translate into concrete economic initiatives capable of accelerating growth and attracting greater investment into Delta State.
She said the summit could also help consolidate the state’s position as a leading destination for sustainable development and investment in Nigeria and Africa.
“I am confident that the deliberations and resolutions of this summit will translate into practical outcomes that will further accelerate economic growth, attract greater investment, create more opportunities for our people, and consolidate Delta State’s position as a model of sustainable development in Nigeria and indeed the African continent,” she said.
The lawmaker congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the initiative and wished delegates, development partners, investors, captains of industry and other participants a successful summit.
She prayed for continued wisdom, strength and grace for the Governor in his efforts to take Delta State to greater heights.
